TYPICAL PROJECTS

Translation ..... In 2011, as in earlier years, I worked for numerous multinational clients on French to English translation projects including Ø an international judicial inquiry transcript Ø a government inquiry report Ø a major environmental disaster judgment Ø international divorce papers Ø an international construction contract Ø an overseas government civil engineering contract Ø pleadings in a contested will case Ø numerous banking contracts Ø patent interference pleadings Ø December 2009 - February banking and securities documents for a banking client Ø From March to December 2008 I worked as a team member on translation of extensive corporate documentation, pleadings and testimony in a 9/11 reinsurance case Ø in October 2008 I transcribed a large number of audio files of recorded employee telephone conversations and translated them from French into English in a civil fraud investigation Interpreting ..... U.S. Department of State Between 2009 and the present I have worked in the USA and overseas on official visitor tours and education programs Ø For two weeks in April 2011 in Bamako, Mali, and again in June 2011 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, I interpreted counter-terrorism courses for senior law enforcement officers under the State Department’s Diplomatic Security training program Ø In November 2010, I accompanied 19 West African journalists for three weeks as an interpreter on a U.S. tour in the State Department’s Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists Ø In May-June 2010 I accompanied ten African political leaders on a cultural exchange visit to the USA Ø In March 2010 I worked for 2 weeks in Nouakchott, Mauritania as seminar interpreter at a counter-terrorism training course for security forces Ø In August 2009 I accompanied four Algerian guests of the U.S. Government on a tour of U.S. cities in the International Visitors Leadership Program Ø In May-June 2009 I accompanied a French guest of the U.S. Government on a tour of U.S. cities  UN General Assembly Ø In September 2010 I worked as a simultaneous interpreter during High Level meetings of UNESCO and the UNDP at the United Nations headquarters in New York  Trials & depositions for law firms Ø In November 2009 in the Southern District of New York I interpreted testimony at a Federal securities fraud trialØ In October 2009 I interpreted depositions in a biomedical patent infringement case Ø In August and September 2009 I interpreted at depositions in biochemical patent interference cases Ø in NJ superior and municipal courts, I serve as sole interpreter at trials, pre-trial hearings and depositions in civil and criminal cases, as well as mediation and ADR hearings Ø in February 2009 I interpreted during depositions in a pharmaceutical patent infringement case Ø In April-May 2011 I interpreted a series of lawyer-client interviews during an immigrant asylum application case for a New York City law firm Ø In September 2010 I interpreted technical testimony at a personal injury deposition at the Wilson Elser firm in New York Ø in October 2007 I provided oral translations for two days during “sifting” of discovery documents in an international patent case at the Philadelphia law firm of Woodcock Washburn, and later provided full translations of selected documents; then in January 2008 I interpreted for 5 days at the depositions that took place in Europe Ø in August 2008 I interpreted at several depositions of French chemists in a medical patent (proprietary medication process) case Ø in May and June 2008 I provided consecutive interpreting during depositions in international securities fraud litigation in New York Ø For an international law firm in New York City I worked from July 2007 through mid-2009 as the simultaneous interpreter at a series of pre-hearing lawyer/client interviews and hearings in political asylum cases and in April 2009 I attended as an interpreter the final hearing before a Federal judge at the Executive Office for Immigration Review, Department of Justice   International banking, business, conferences and hearings Ø In November 2009 I was a member of the simultaneous and relay (booth) interpreting team at the Unifem international conference in Manhattan Ø In September 2009 I served as interpreter at the board meeting of an international sports organization Ø In July 2009 I interpreted at a deposition in a bank securities civil case for a law firm in new York City Ø in March-April 2009 I interpreted during depositions in an international insurance arbitration case after working from March to December 2008 as a team member on translation of extensive corporate documentation, pleadings and testimony Ø I served in April 2009 on a team of simultaneous (booth) interpreters at a labor union conference Ø in January 2009 I interpreted during an inspection and site tour by French government inspectors of a U.S. biomedical manufacturing plant Ø in March 2008 for 5 days I interpreted testimony before an international panel of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in New York City hearing the Floyd Landis Tour de France doping case Ø on several occasions during 2008 I provided simultaneous interpretation for an international cosmetic brand’s visiting French executives observing product testing focus groups in New York City Ø in July 2007 I recorded a French language voice-over presentation for a PowerPoint industrial training video

 Fluent speaker of both English and French with extensive simultaneous and consecutive interpreting experience in the fields of law, business and finance·         Extensive knowledge of legal, banking, and accounting terms·         Qualified by the U.S. State Department as a seminar interpreter·         Registered by the Judiciary of the State of New Jersey as a simultaneous and consecutive interpreter (English and French as both source and target languages) in Superior and Municipal courts·         New Jersey Notary Public; official document translations certified·         B.A. (Honors French) University of London·         Former translator and simultaneous interpreter at the London office of the Military Agency for Standardization of NATO working on translation from French into English of engineering texts and simultaneous and consecutive interpreting on military and management topics·         Seven years in the field of international copyrights licensing for academic book publishers in London and New York conducting correspondence in French and translating contracts and administrative and literary texts into both French and English and negotiating with publishers in French, German and Italian·          Eight years administrative experience with a European bank in New York City and translating technical and administrative documents and correspondence·          20+ years administrative management in banking, law and accounting: translations of legal,  technical and financial documents, including contracts, evidence and correspondence for businesses and professional firms in New York and New Jersey as well as for language service agencies·         I serve as a volunteer for Travelers Aid International
